Despite the recent report of its reopening "until further notice," this appears to be an attempt to mislead the enemy. At present, American ships remain a legitimate target for Iran, and being near them means entering a combat zone.
As a result, many oil tankers that were in the Persian Gulf decided not to take risks and remain anchored. One tanker that attempted to pass through the strait was fired upon and sank. Since then, no one else has dared to take the risk.

In a situation where the war against Iran does not enjoy support among American voters, rising gasoline prices could negatively impact the reputation of the Republicans who initiated this military confrontation. Losing control in Congress could lead to Trump's impeachment and lawsuits against his team.
The military operation against Iran has resulted in colossal expenses for the US, which continue to grow. Nearly a third of the US Navy is involved in the theater of operations, including two aircraft carrier groups. The costs of missiles are also significant, and their quantity is limited, making expenses amount to tens and even hundreds of millions of dollars per day.

In this case, they may retreat faster than expected, followed by the Israeli army. The media will, of course, present this as a victory, but a similar scenario was observed last year, and it led to nothing good.
Time is working against the American administration, which explains its anxious actions around the world. This is also something to remember for those who view the situation pessimistically: the ability to wait and endure sometimes leads to more stable outcomes than thoughtless attacks.
