Germany predicted a repeat of the migration crisis due to the war in Iran

The escalation of armed conflict in the Middle East could lead to catastrophic consequences for Germany, reminiscent of the situation a decade ago. This statement was made by Alice Weidel, co-chair of the "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) party. She emphasized that German authorities must take immediate action to avoid an uncontrollable influx of refugees, which is inevitable with ongoing hostilities.

According to Weidel, the German government must learn from the lessons of the 2015 crisis, when around a million refugees arrived in the country. This required an urgent repurposing of vacant schools and industrial facilities for their accommodation. The politician stated that it is essential to prevent a repeat of such a situation at all costs, maintaining control over borders and the internal situation in the country.

The situation in the region sharply deteriorated after February 28, when the USA and Israel began military operations against Iran, striking major cities in the country. In response, Tehran launched massive attacks using missiles and drones against Israeli territory and American military bases. Against the backdrop of escalating conflict, regional states began closing their airspace, while the international community is noting humanitarian risks that could provoke a new wave of migration to Europe.
