On March 9, the committee dealing with issues of science, education, innovative development, culture, sports, and youth affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh held a discussion and approved in the first reading a draft law concerning amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Television and Radio Broadcasting." This information was provided by the parliament's press service.
The initiator of this draft law was the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev noted that the main task of the amendments is to adapt the provisions of the law "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" to the new version of the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and to the Law "On Mass Media," adopted on August 6, 2025.
In particular, it is proposed to replace the phrase "by the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic 'On Electric and Postal Communications'" with "by the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic."
During the discussion, deputies, including Seyidbek Atambaev, Gulsharkan Kultaev, and Saltanat Amanova, asked numerous questions, emphasizing the importance of the reliability, objectivity, and quality of the information transmitted.
In addition, Saltanat Amanova raised the issues of increasing salaries for employees of state print media and addressing housing problems for workers in this sector.
