Citizens of some countries face criminal liability for "mercenarism".
Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, issued a decree prohibiting the extradition of foreign citizens who have served under contract in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (AF RF) and participated in combat operations. The relevant regulatory act was published on the official website of legal acts.
This bill, submitted by the Russian government to the State Duma, includes amendments to Article 464 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
It is worth noting that in a number of countries, citizens who serve in the AF RF or participate in combat operations may face criminal prosecution under articles related to "mercenarism" or similar offenses.
