Almazbek Akmatov, the head of the committee, emphasized that according to the draft law, the number of auditors will be reduced from nine to three; however, he stated that this will not affect the efficiency of the Accounts Chamber's work, as the control functions are performed by inspectors, while auditors are only responsible for oversight.
The elected auditor will be appointed by the Jogorku Kenesh from a list of candidates proposed by the president, while the other two will be selected by the parliament. In response to questions, Akmatov noted that his current term expires on April 16, but the terms of some auditors vary from one to three years.
