A meeting of representatives of the organization took place in Moscow
At the Joint Staff of the CSTO, discussions were held regarding the preparation for the upcoming exercises "Barrier-2026".
Under the leadership of Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakovlev, representatives from the defense ministries of Belarus (via videoconference), Russia, and the CSTO Joint Staff gathered in Moscow.
The participants of the meeting addressed issues related to the "Barrier-2026" exercises, which are scheduled for October in Belarus, and also discussed Russia's priority areas in the development of military medicine and protection against biological threats. An important topic was the organization of research activities during the exercises, related to the formation of chemical, biological, and radiological protection and medical support for the CSTO.
It is worth noting that this formation was established in 2022, taking into account the experience of the Russian Ministry of Defense in combating COVID-19. It is intended to ensure the medical and biological safety of troops and respond to mass infections. The formation includes specialists from all CSTO member states.
If necessary, this formation can be deployed on the territory of any CSTO member state to protect the Collective Forces, as well as to participate in collective responses to the rapid spread of dangerous infectious diseases.
