At the first Ministerial Conference of the International Organization for the Russian Language (IORL), held in Moscow, the Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, noted that the Russian language plays a key role in the development of the republic.
According to Kendirbaeva, the Russian language creates opportunities for progress and serves as the foundation for forming a unified educational space. "This will be an effective platform for disseminating best practices in the field of the Russian language," she emphasized, as reported by TASS.
The minister also added that the study of the Russian language contributes to strengthening intergovernmental relations and will serve as a basis for educational diplomacy between Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. She supported the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to create the IORL, aimed at developing the Russian language, creating educational materials, and training qualified specialists.
Kendirbaeva expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to actively participate in the activities of the IORL and collaborate with other countries, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that the idea of creating the IORL was voiced in December 2021 during meetings between the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and was supported by the leaders of the CIS countries. In October 2023, a corresponding agreement was signed in Bishkek.
The IORL is open for the accession of any interested countries, including those outside the CIS. The main goals of the organization are to strengthen the status of the Russian language as an official or working language in international and regional structures, as well as to support quality education and the training of qualified personnel.
The Russian language will become an important tool for developing educational diplomacy and exchanging experiences among the participating countries.
