
A meeting of the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Ghana took place in Bishkek.
Jeenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, held talks with Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the head of the foreign affairs ministry of the Republic of Ghana.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan emphasized that this meeting is of historical significance, as it marks the first visit of the Ghanaian minister to Kyrgyzstan within the framework of bilateral relations.
During the discussions, the ministers thoroughly examined opportunities for deepening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Ghana. They noted that in recent years there has been an activation of mutual contacts and highlighted key areas for further interaction. Special attention was given to cooperation within international organizations, as well as opportunities in the mining, agricultural, and digital sectors, including medical education.
The ministers emphasized that due to significant reforms in both countries, Ghana and Kyrgyzstan have achieved political stability and noticeable economic growth.
The parties also discussed the potential for transit logistics. Ghana views Kyrgyzstan as a key gateway to the Central Asian market, while Kyrgyzstan sees Ghana as an opportunity to access the markets of West Africa.
As a result of the negotiations, the following documents were signed:
• Memorandum of Understanding regarding political consultations;
• Agreement on the exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
