At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which took place on March 17 and addressed issues of law and order, the judicial system, and crime prevention, deputy Zhyldyz Kurmanalieva raised a question about the involvement of representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan (DUMK) in the preparation and discussion of the draft law.
In response, Deputy Minister Sultan Akhmatov stated that representatives of the muftiate were involved in this process and support the proposed law. However, according to Kurmanalieva, she has information that the document was not discussed with the DUMK.

Akhmatov clarified that the project was agreed upon with the muftiate. The deputy also inquired which state body is responsible for issuing halal certification. Akhmatov explained that there is a single accredited body for these purposes in the country — the Bishkek Center for Metrology and Standardization, which collaborates with the muftiate.
He added that at the initial stage, the certification process goes through the muftiate, after which the Bishkek Center continues the work. During the meeting, the committee also reviewed in the second reading the draft law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Amendments to the Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on Offenses," aimed at improving legal norms in the halal industry.
