Kyrgyzstan has increased budget support for crisis centers fourfold

In Kyrgyzstan, funding for institutions providing assistance to victims of violence has significantly increased — from 7 million soms in 2019 to 28.6 million by 2025. This was reported by Ainura Orozbaeva, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Welfare, and Migration, at a UN session. She noted that this increase is part of a broader strategy for the country's transition to an inclusive model of governance and economy.

In addition to financial support for crisis centers, legislative initiatives aimed at protecting women's rights are actively developing in Kyrgyzstan. New regulations have been introduced, such as a 30-day protection order, and the responsibility for domestic violence has been significantly tightened. The Republic has also ratified ILO Convention No. 190, which aims to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work.

The report pays special attention to the political representation of women. In the Jogorku Kenesh, the proportion of women has reached a historic record — 30 out of 90 deputies, which is 33%. At the local government level, in urban and rural councils, this figure is even higher — up to 40%. Authorities believe that the active participation of women in decision-making contributes to a more effective allocation of resources and strengthens social stability.

All reforms are based on the national development strategy, in which gender equality is viewed not only as an important social aspect but also as a key factor for the country's sustainable economic growth.
