Bishkek City Court urges citizens to resolve disputes through mediation

At the Bishkek City Court, attention was drawn to mediation – a method that allows disputes to be resolved without exhausting court proceedings. The Deputy Chairman of the Court, Mirbek Satarbek uulu, noted that this practice involves the participation of an independent mediator who facilitates the search for mutually beneficial solutions for all parties. Judges often recommend that parties consider the possibility of reaching an agreement outside the courtroom.

According to representatives of the judicial system, this approach makes justice more humane and fosters a culture of dialogue in society. Moreover, it significantly alleviates the burden on judges. Experts highlight the main advantages of mediation as saving time and resources, as well as the rare opportunity to maintain good relationships between conflicting parties. Practice shows that voluntary agreements are more often fulfilled, as they take into account the real interests of all participants.

As of today, there are over 350 registered professional mediators in Kyrgyzstan. The mediation process is based on the principles of voluntariness, equality of the parties, and strict confidentiality. Typically, mediation takes up to 60 days, while a standard first-instance court trial can last about a month but often gets prolonged due to bureaucratic delays and numerous appeals. Choosing mediation allows for much quicker and less stressful resolution of issues.
