At a meeting organized in the building of the CSTO Secretariat, the heads of national headquarters discussed the results of the ongoing operation to combat crimes in the field of information technology, known as "PROXY." The Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO, Valery Semerikov, opening the meeting, noted the successes achieved over the past year, emphasizing that despite the increasingly complex international situation, competent authorities successfully addressed non-standard operational tasks. In 2025, significant effectiveness was achieved in protecting the information space, as well as in combating cyberterrorism, drug trafficking, and extremism carried out through ICT.
During the meeting, participants outlined areas for joint work for the upcoming 2026 year. The main focus will be on protecting both national and allied interests in the digital space. Priorities will include combating the spread of information that could cause political damage, countering the incitement of interethnic and religious strife, as well as preventing the recruitment of citizens into terrorist and extremist groups for participation in conflicts.
In 2026, special attention is planned to be given to identifying and blocking resources used for illegal activities, as well as combating malware and dismantling criminal groups engaged in electronic fraud. Law enforcement agencies and special services of CSTO member states will continue active cooperation in identifying transnational criminal groups involved in drug trafficking and other forms of organized crime on the internet.
In conclusion, the participants noted that the "PROXY" operation has established itself as one of the most effective tools for collective interaction. The coordinated actions of relevant ministries and law enforcement agencies allow for a prompt response to modern cyber threats, ensuring a high level of collective security for all CSTO member countries.
