The President of Kazakhstan made an official statement
After the publication of the exit poll results from the republican referendum held in Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered a speech at the "Qazmedia Ortalygy" studio. Information about his address was posted on the official website of Akorda.
– We have witnessed a truly historic event for our country. Citizens of Kazakhstan actively participated in the referendum and expressed support for the constitutional changes. They voted for the future of their Homeland. The results of the exit polls confirm that Kazakhstan has made an important choice in favor of a new Constitution. Thus, the people have determined the course of Kazakhstan's further history and destiny. Your will shall forever remain in the annals of world history, becoming a symbol of our citizens' patriotism. From this moment, March 15 will be celebrated as Constitution Day, one of the main holidays. Citizens voted for updates and modernization of the country. This is our common achievement. I congratulate everyone on this significant event! – said the president.
Tokayev noted that the referendum was held at a high level, was transparent and fair. Both local and international observers confirmed that all legal and democratic norms were adhered to.
– The final results of the citizens' will will be officially announced by the Central Referendum Commission in accordance with the law. However, it can already be said that the people of Kazakhstan demonstrated an example of unity, patriotism, and responsibility for the fate of their country. The majority chose the path of Progress, Justice, Law, Order, Love for Nature, and Purity. This is indeed a remarkable path. This People's Constitution will lead to new achievements and successes, and there is no doubt about it. A record high voter turnout has been recorded. I thank everyone who came to the polling stations and expressed their civic position. We demonstrated to the world the political culture of our society. Where there is unity, there is life and prosperity! In unity lies the strength of the country! For Kazakhstan to become a progressive and competitive state, we must maintain peace, show patience and persistence, creativity and diligence, hard work and responsibility, – emphasized the president.
According to Tokayev, the Constitution, which received the support of the people and was approved by their will, will become an important guideline in the development of the state.
– The new Constitution is the foundation of our Independence and Sovereignty. This law guarantees the rights and freedoms of individuals. We, as a united nation, have taken an important step towards creating a just society where Law and Order are upheld, and citizens possess high responsibility and creativity. Today we opened a new chapter in the history of our country. A lot of work lies ahead. It is important that our people unequivocally support deep transformations. I believe that by uniting efforts for common interests, we can leave future generations a Progressive and Advanced Kazakhstan. I express my sincere gratitude to the youth for their active participation in the referendum! It is pleasing to see how the younger generation is expressing itself in this campaign. May our sacred Independence be eternal! May our beloved Homeland – the Republic of Kazakhstan – thrive!
