According to information published by The New York Times (NYT), the United States has handed Iran a 15-point plan aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East.
The publication emphasizes that this move indicates the desire of President Donald Trump's administration to find a solution to the conflict that "causes significant economic damage."
At the same time, it is unclear how deeply the Iranian authorities are familiar with the proposed plan, which was conveyed through Pakistan, and whether they are willing to consider it as a basis for negotiations. It also remains uncertain whether Israel supports this proposal.
In addition to delivering the plan, the Pentagon has deployed about 2,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, sources report.
On March 24, CNN noted that in recent days there have been contacts between the US and Iran, which have not yet led to full negotiations. The parties are discussing the possibility of reaching a peace agreement to end the conflict. According to a source from the channel, Iran is ready to provide guarantees to cease the development of nuclear weapons but insists on the right to peaceful use of nuclear technologies.
On the same day, Trump stated that Tehran has agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons.
