In Kyrgyzstan, new requirements for the minimum work experience to receive pension payments are coming into effect. Starting from January 1, 2026, the work experience required for retirement will increase to 6 years, as reported by Zhenishbek Mukhanbetov, head of the Social Fund's public relations department.

According to him, these changes were adopted in 2024. Previously, women aged 58 and men aged 63 were required to have 20 years of work experience. In case of insufficient experience, a partial pension was assigned.

From July 1, 2024, the old norm was replaced with a new one, according to which only 5 years of experience will be required for a full pension.

Mukhanbetov noted that starting in 2026, the minimum work experience will gradually increase: every two years, one year will be added to it. By 2045, the minimum work experience is expected to reach 20 years, after which changes in this regard will cease.

He also emphasized that for the calculation of work experience, not only data from the employment record book are taken into account, but also other periods, such as military service, maternity leave, and others established by law.
