Starting from January 28, 2023, restrictions will be imposed in Kyrgyzstan on the import of animals that may be susceptible to the Nipah virus, as well as on animal products from India. This decision was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development.

The ministry noted that such measures are necessary to ensure veterinary and sanitary safety for the population following the detection of cases of the Nipah virus.

This virus is a serious zoonotic infection that can be transmitted from animals to humans. Specialists from the veterinary and agricultural service advise citizens to avoid purchasing animal products without proper documentation and to pay attention to veterinary certificates.
