A deputy called on the EU to stop its pressure policy
Thierry Mariani, a Member of the European Parliament from France, addressed the European Union with a call to stop pressuring Kyrgyzstan and to start a productive dialogue. In his speech, he emphasized that Bishkek demonstrates stability in a challenging situation and remains open to international observation.
Mariani noted that the level of trust enjoyed by President Sadyr Japarov may provoke envy among European leaders. He also pointed out that Japarov has managed to strengthen state institutions and effectively combat criminal groups.
The French politician urged his colleagues not to dictate terms to Bishkek, but to extend a helping hand. He added that ignoring Kyrgyzstan's ties with Russia and its unique path of national development is a serious geopolitical mistake that could negatively affect relations with Central Asia.
