The Jogorku Kenesh approved the $30 million OPEC loan for sustainable development in the third reading.

Today, February 4, 2026, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the deputies approved the bill "On the Ratification of the Loan Agreement 'First Program for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Development,' concluded between the Kyrgyz Republic and the OPEC Fund for International Development." This document was signed on September 22, 2025, in Bishkek and was adopted in the third reading.

According to the terms of the loan agreement, the OPEC Fund for International Development will provide the Kyrgyz Republic with financial support amounting to 30 million dollars. These funds will be directed towards the socio-economic development of the country, including the establishment of sustainable and equitable energy supply, improvement of the quality of social services, as well as enhancing climate resilience. Additionally, the agreement aims to strengthen financial stability and improve the business climate in the country. The loan term is 20 years, with a 5-year grace period, and the interest rate is set at 1.25%.
