- In Kyrgyzstan, the development of a draft law concerning the introduction of the institution of digital evidence and the revision of criminal and procedural legislation in light of modern digital realities has been completed. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

According to the presented data, the draft law contains amendments to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Code of Offenses. It introduces a definition of digital evidence and establishes the procedure for their collection, recording, storage, and use in criminal and administrative proceedings.

Particular attention in the document is given to the protection of citizens' rights. In particular, additional procedural guarantees are proposed when dealing with digital data related to the confidentiality of correspondence, personal data, and private life, as well as mechanisms for judicial oversight.

Furthermore, the draft law replaces outdated terminology, aligning it with the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Legal mechanisms for working with virtual assets, which are increasingly becoming the target of criminal activities, are also provided.

Representatives of the Ministry of Justice noted that the adoption of this draft law will create a modern legal framework for combating cybercrime, establish clear rules for working with digital data, and ensure uniformity in law enforcement practice.
