"Anything is Possible". Deputies on Early Elections and the Likely Participation of Tashiev
Talibek Masabirov: I cannot say whether Kamchybek Kydyrshaevich will run. As for the elections, President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich was elected according to the old constitution. In 2021, we adopted a new version that limits the term of one candidate to two five-year terms. We have already set the election date for January 2027, but new elections are also possible. However, this issue is not being discussed in the Jogorku Kenesh.
Dastan Bekeshev: The likelihood of early elections exists and it is significant. This could happen either at the end of the year or at the beginning of the next. Elections are also possible in the spring, but they cannot be held in the summer due to the SCO events and the Games of Nomads. In April or May, it is quite realistic. As for Kamchybek Tashiev's participation, he has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to participate. I believe him and think he will keep his word.
Kubanychbek Samakov: Everything must happen in accordance with the law and the Constitution. According to Article 66 of the Constitution, a president can be elected for two terms of five years each, but the current president was elected for six years under the old Constitution. According to the law on the new Constitution, the six-year term is considered the first, which allows Sadyr Japarov to run for a second term, but it will be five years.
As for Kamchybek Tashiev's participation, his intentions are unknown to me. In any case, it will be a decision of the people.
Gulya Kozhokulova: Early elections are generally possible, as the Constitution allows for this. The new election law also distinguishes between regular and extraordinary elections. There are no prohibitions, but there must be appropriate grounds. I have not heard of such discussions and have not participated in them.
A candidacy for elections is a right, but one must meet certain criteria.
Bolot Ibragimov: Everything depends on the decision of the people. Kamchybek Tashiev is a free man; he can nominate himself or not. But I do not know him personally to judge his ambitions. As for the elections, they should take place on schedule in a year.
Sovetbek Rustambek uulu: It is quiet in the Jogorku Kenesh for now; there are no such discussions. This is only being discussed on social media. We will act according to the law. As for Kamchybek Tashiev, it is his right.
Elvira Surabaldiyeva: I have a different question: who benefits from creating such a tense atmosphere in society? Why is this happening? I do not know yet; let's see. But, in my opinion, the elections should take place on January 24, 2027. I have not discussed his participation in the elections with Kamchybek Tashiev, so I cannot predict anything.
Dastan Jumabekov: I do not see the need for early elections. The current Constitution establishes a six-year term for Sadyr Nurgozhoevich. If he is elected again, his term will become five years. We adopted the law on the introduction of the new Constitution, where this is stipulated. The six-year term will end in 2027, and then, most likely, there will be elections. As for Kamchybek Tashiev's participation, he himself said that he would not participate.
Marlen Mamataliyev: In the VII convocation, we approved a draft law on holding presidential elections on January 24, 2027. All lawyers agree that this is the right decision and it complies with the Constitution. However, if circumstances arise that may affect the elections, theoretically, there could be early elections, but this would require changes to the legislation. Holding international events, such as the SCO, may accelerate the process, but if this does not become a problem for the current president, the elections will take place on schedule.
The second question is more about politics. Let them decide for themselves.
