Admission to state driving schools starts on February 10. There are conditions.
Enrollment in driving schools will be available exclusively in an online format on the official website avtomektep.srs.kg.
To apply, it is necessary to enter personal data, select the region where training is planned, specify the category the applicant wishes to study for, and submit an electronic application through the platform.
After processing the application, trainees will be enrolled in the driving school in the selected region.
It is also reported that online training for theoretical classes will be implemented. The creation of several training streams will allow for a large number of applications to be accommodated, helping to avoid overcrowding in driving schools.
“Every day, new state driving schools are connecting to the system. One driving school will be able to train several streams of trainees simultaneously, which will ensure an even distribution of learners across regions,” the department noted.
Additionally, as part of the reform, updated driver training programs have been introduced, aimed at improving the quality of education, fostering a culture of safe driving, and reducing the number of traffic accidents.
The programs include in-depth study of traffic rules, enhanced practical training, the use of modern simulators, and mastering the basics of vehicle maintenance.
Trainees who successfully pass tests and exams will be able to obtain a temporary driver's license for a period of one year. If there are no violations of traffic rules during this time, they will be issued a permanent license.
Earlier, in November, Kanbek Tumanbaev, the head of the President's Office of Kyrgyzstan, announced that all private driving schools would come under state management. According to the new rules, training for obtaining a category B driver's license will take ten months, including training and testing, while for category C it will take 12 months. Classes in state driving schools will be held two to three times a week for two to three hours, and part of the training process will be available online.
Some entrepreneurs have expressed opposition to such reforms, and driving school trainees are complaining about difficulties in obtaining certificates due to these changes. A number of deputies from the Jogorku Kenesh have also criticized the innovations, describing them as "ephemeral reforms."
On January 29, a presidential decree suspended the operation of private driving schools. President Sadyr Japarov also noted that the course for top students might be shortened.
