I asked the question: ‘Are we receiving economic compensation for the water that passes through our territory?’ To which Torobaev replied that an intergovernmental commission is working with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. As part of its work, neighboring countries provide us with assistance and funding for the repair of hydraulic structures and dams. This is geopolitics, but now my friends from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are asking why I am raising the issue of Kyrgyzstan selling water. International opposition structures misinterpret our words. These are merely working moments between an official and a deputy, but they are given a completely different meaning. I want to emphasize that we have agreements under which we provide them with water, and they make concessions to us on other issues. These are just working moments,” the deputy concluded.
