Bakyt Baketaev, a political scientist, expressed his opinion on the active responses from foreign experts regarding the recent changes in the personnel composition of Kyrgyzstan. He noted that the speed and certainty of the assessments coming from abroad are alarming.
“The pace of reaction from international 'experts' is particularly surprising. Yesterday, the chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) was dismissed in Kyrgyzstan, and today, while somewhere between a latte and a flight, someone has already fully understood the situation and is ready to comment on it. For us, who are on the ground, among real people and actual facts, we still have to figure it out, while they are already drawing conclusions. Moreover, they do this with complete confidence, as if they were witnesses,” he said.
In Baketaev's opinion, this approach demonstrates the “remarkable talent” of foreign analysts, who, being thousands of kilometers away and lacking language skills and context, use the terms “democracy” and “authoritarianism” to form definitive judgments.
“Our country has many complexities, and its history is not simple. For them, everything boils down to a simple scheme: if something does not match their ideas, then it is bad. If they are not asked, then it is dictatorship. If there are no explanations, then something is being hidden. It’s convenient, like using a microwave manual,” he added.
The political scientist ironically noted that soon these same experts might claim that Kyrgyzstan needs “sovereign thinking.”
“Yes, especially considering that everything has already been decided for us,” Baketaev emphasized.
He also remarked that sometimes it seems that for some foreign experts, the circumstances themselves are not as important as the opportunity to comment on events.
“Who suffered, who won or lost, is not that important. The main thing is to be able to give a comment in time. So, of course, thank you for your concern, but maybe we can figure it out ourselves while you enjoy your coffee and update your manuals,” Bakyt Baketaev concluded.
It should be noted that today several foreign political scientists, particularly from Russia, have already commented on the dismissal of Tashiev and his deputies, offering their versions of the reasons and consequences of these personnel decisions.
