On February 12, a discussion was held in parliament regarding the candidacy of Marlen Mamataliyev for the position of speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh. His name was proposed by the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too".
This discussion became relevant after Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his resignation, although he will continue to perform his duties as a deputy, retaining his mandate.
The nomination of Mamataliyev resulted from the initiative of two groups of parliamentarians who are actively involved in forming a parliamentary majority in the Jogorku Kenesh.
The "Eldik" parliamentary group includes 18 members, among whom are Akylbek Tumonbaev, Gulya Kozhokulova, Ulan Primov, Ulukbek Karybek uulu, and others. In turn, the "Ala-Too" coalition consists of 15 deputies, including Janara Akayeva, Seidbek Atambaev, Talaybek Masabirov, and Jumabek Salymbekov.
