A secret voting has begun in the parliament
At the moment, Marlen Mamataliyev has become the only candidate for the position of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, and a secret vote is taking place in the parliament regarding his candidacy.
This morning, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his decision to resign as Speaker. He emphasized that this decision was made by him independently and without any pressure.
After that, the deputies decided to initiate the process of electing a new Speaker and announced a break for consultations. During this time, the deputy groups were supposed to nominate their candidates. However, none of the five groups — "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," "Ala-Too," "Ata-Jurt," "Mekenchil," and "Eldik" — ultimately proposed their representatives.
It is worth noting that rumors about Marlen Mamataliyev potentially taking the position of Speaker began to emerge even before Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu's official announcement of his resignation.
