According to the Israeli publication The Times of Israel, the Israeli army is preparing a new attack plan for the Gaza Strip, citing "the forced disarmament of Hamas" as the reason.
According to the source, the implementation of this plan remains in question, especially in the context of the existing ceasefire agreement.
Israeli officials are increasingly leaning towards the conclusion that without active military intervention, the disarmament of Hamas is unlikely.
If military actions resume, they could be significantly larger in scale than previous operations and will not be limited by the presence of Israeli captives in Gaza.
Israel believes that without military intervention, Hamas will be able to maintain and even strengthen its influence and military capabilities in the region.
A senior representative of the Israeli security service noted that given the assessment that Hamas will not agree to voluntary disarmament, the likelihood of a military operation on this issue has increased.
It is also reported that the Southern Command of the Israel Defense Forces has been developing various action scenarios in Gaza in recent weeks, in case the government decides to carry out the forced disarmament of Hamas.
A statement from the Media Office of the Palestinian government in Gaza reports that in the four months following the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025, the Israeli army violated it 1,620 times, resulting in the deaths of at least 573 Palestinians and injuries to 1,553 people.
