These measures are part of an anti-corruption campaign
Recently, two high-profile officials were detained in Kyrgyzstan: Nurgazy Anarkulov, a former employee of the presidential administration, and Kanatbek Abdykadyrov, vice-president of the Football Union. This information came from sources in law enforcement and was confirmed by several media outlets.
The publication Kaktus.media reported that Abdykadyrov was detained at Manas International Airport while he was about to leave the country with former head of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev. However, he was not allowed to leave due to a watch card placed on him and was taken for questioning at the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after which he was released.
Anarkulov was detained at the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.
So far, there have been no official comments from the authorities regarding these detentions.
These events are linked to recent resignations and detentions that have occurred in the country, including allegations of corruption.
It is worth noting that on February 10, President Sadyr Japarov dismissed Kamchybek Tashiev, the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as all his deputies.
Subsequently, the resignations of heads of regional departments of the State National Security Committee and some employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also became known. In addition, the head of the State National Security Committee in Bishkek was detained on suspicion of corrupt activities.
