Gulya Kozhokulova called the work of the large staff of the Bishkek city hall useless

At a recent parliamentary session, deputy Gulya Kozhokulova expressed the need to change the approaches to the work of the Bishkek city hall and improve city management.

She noted that despite having a large staff, including Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and four akims, the capital continues to face serious problems that cause dissatisfaction among residents.

One of the main topics raised by Kozhokulova was the numerous complaints regarding public transportation. According to citizens, buses are often in poor sanitary condition, delay schedules, and behave like minivans, which poses a threat to passenger safety.

The deputy also emphasized the need for rational management of municipal property and chaotic construction. As an illustration, she cited a recent scandal related to construction near the TSUM, highlighting that the lack of information from city authorities about what is happening in the center raises questions about the control system.

Kozhokulova also pointed out the problems of preserving Bishkek's cultural and architectural heritage, as well as the poor condition of road surfaces in neighborhoods, which poses a threat to residents' safety due to broken asphalt.

The deputy believes that one of the main problems is the lack of direct dialogue between local authorities and the population: residents cannot convey their concerns, and city hall representatives do not show initiative for meetings.
