The Prosecutor General's Office reported that a review is only possible in strict accordance with the law.
At the current session of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies are discussing a draft law concerning amendments to certain legislative acts of the Kyrgyz Republic. This draft law includes amendments to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Executive Codes.
During the discussion of the initiative, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised a question to the Deputy Prosecutor General: "Given the current circumstances, can we expect a political thaw? Will decisions that many consider unjust be reviewed?"
In response, Deputy Prosecutor General Umutkan Konkubayeva stated that all actions must occur exclusively within the framework of legal norms.
She explained: "As for the review of cases, if appeals are currently received or new facts are identified during prosecutor supervision, the materials may be reviewed. However, the legislation does not allow for the review of all cases indiscriminately without legal grounds."
The deputy prosecutor also noted that to initiate the review process, an application must be submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office, after which an inspection will be conducted within the framework of supervisory activities.
