Irina Karamushkina, who previously held the position of deputy in the Jogorku Kenesh and is currently serving her sentence in a women's colony, has appealed to President Sadyr Japarov for clemency. Karamushkina's lawyer, Askar Alymkulov, reported this to the editorial office of Kaktus.media.

According to the lawyer, the petition was submitted to the president through the colony's administration in December 2025.

In her appeal, Karamushkina pointed out that the judicial authorities did not take into account important testimonies from the victims, who, according to her, denied her involvement in the hostage-taking case. She also noted that the testimonies of witnesses were not properly considered. Furthermore, she stated that the house subject to confiscation was acquired legally.

The lawyer emphasized that Karamushkina is also requesting to be released from further serving her sentence, citing her retirement age and her desire to spend more time with her family, grandchildren, and elderly mother. She urged the president to show mercy, as she is the only woman involved in this case.

In November 2025, Irina Karamushkina was transferred to women's colony No. 2 to serve her sentence. She was found guilty in cases related to the events in Koy-Tash and voter bribery during the elections, receiving a sentence of eight years in prison.

Karamushkina served as a deputy in the Jogorku Kenesh for several convocations, representing the SDPK party.
