It is expected that precipitation will occur in most regions of the country due to atmospheric fronts, creating conditions for snowstorms and ice, especially in the north, east, and center of Kazakhstan. At the same time, the western and southeastern regions will remain under the influence of an anticyclone, ensuring clear and dry weather there.
The air temperature will vary depending on the region. In the north, nighttime temperatures are expected to be 0 to -8 °C, while during the day the temperature will rise to +5 °C. In the southeastern areas, slight frosts are possible in mountainous regions, with daytime temperatures around +11 °C. In the other regions, no significant changes are anticipated.
It is also worth noting that on November 28, storm warnings have been issued in 13 regions of Kazakhstan. It was previously reported that at the end of November, the above-normal temperatures would change sharply.
Reasons for the abnormally warm November
Experts from "Kazhydromet" explained that the abnormally high temperatures in November were caused by frequent changes of cyclones and anticyclones, which prevented cold air masses from lingering over the country. This led to unstable weather with alternating warm spells, precipitation, and strong winds.
Northwest cyclones will continue to influence the weather until the end of November, with expectations of precipitation, snowstorms, and ice. However, slight improvements are possible in the middle of next week when an anticyclone brings cooler and drier air with fog.
Winter forecast
According to meteorologists, winter is expected to be relatively mild with temperatures within the norm, but with sharp fluctuations in weather conditions, including snowstorms and strong winds. The first stable frosts may manifest by the end of November.
Preliminary forecasts indicate that March 2026 may be 1°C warmer than usual. Increased humidity is expected in the southern and southeastern regions, while clear and dry weather is forecasted for Mangistau.
