In the Chui region, specifically in the Jaily district, there is a noticeable increase in demand for samovars produced during the Soviet era.

These items are actively purchased for home use. They are distinguished by their durability, aesthetics, and quality, maintaining their practical value even in the modern world.

Experts note that the special charm of tea brewed in such a samovar lies in the unique combination of aroma, taste, and the atmosphere of communication. Water heated over fire acquires its unique qualities, and the tea-drinking experience transforms into a meditative and pleasant ritual. The use of a wood-burning samovar gives the water a slight smoky flavor, while the scale settles at the bottom, making the water softer and the tea more aromatic. Additionally, the samovar retains heat for a long time, which is ideal for brewing tea. It is not just a household item, but a true part of history that brings people together at the table.

“The cost of such samovars varies depending on many factors: a regular specimen produced in the USSR from the 1940s to the 1980s costs between 3,000 to 5,000 soms, while rare collectible pieces created in Tsarist Russia can be valued at tens of thousands of dollars,” explained local historian Maxim Podgorny.

He also warns against inexperienced interference with antique items.

“If you come across an old samovar, you should not attempt to restore it in an effort to improve its appearance. A friend of mine accidentally sanded away a century-old green copper patina from a samovar, significantly reducing the value of this unique item to the price of copper,” the historian added.
