On January 20, at the "Astana Arena" in the capital of Kazakhstan, three foreign fans were detained during the game between "Kairat" and the Belgian team "Brugge." This was reported by Tengrinews.kz, citing local law enforcement agencies.
The police intervened due to the behavior of a group of fans in the stands. After the match, videos appeared on social media showing "Brugge" fans in revealing swimsuits reminiscent of the outfit worn by the character Borat from the popular film by Sacha Baron Cohen. It is believed that they aimed to provoke a reaction or mockery from the Kazakh audience.
The police added that the detainees were taken to the station for further investigation. Administrative proceedings were initiated against them for public disorder while intoxicated and petty hooliganism.
"The case materials have been submitted to the court for a decision. Until the hearing, the offenders were placed in a temporary detention cell," the police department reported.
It is worth noting that the match between "Kairat" and "Brugge" ended with a score of 4:1 in favor of the Belgian team. Despite the sporting outcome, the incident in the stands sparked widespread resonance and active discussion on social media.
