Masters of the Older Generation
The senior generation masters L. Truskowski, N. Efremenko, A. Mikhalev, and I. Belevich contributed to the development of various techniques of printed graphics, creating a number of works that became part of the main collection of easel graphics in the republic.
In the print sub-genres of graphics, the best works of Lev Gavrilovich Truskowski were created. One of his best works is the series of colored linocuts and lithographs "Through Kyrgyzstan" (1960), dedicated to the mountainous nature of the republic. The sheets of the series are characterized by panoramic and substantial imagery, with a conditionally decorative color. The engravings "Evening" and the lithograph "Noon" are particularly expressive. A number of graphic sheets, including prints, were included in the extensive cycle "Construction of the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station" (1963-1965), which was created based on rich natural material collected during multiple trips to the construction site.
The leading theme for Nikolai Fedorovich Efremenko in his prints of the 1960s was the theme of the Great Patriotic War, which he experienced, making many documentary sketches for army newspapers and his future engravings and lithographs. A continuation of his work on military themes was the series of colored linocuts "Border Routine" (1965). It summarizes a large amount of natural material collected by the artist during creative trips to border outposts and captured in watercolors, pastels, and pencil drawings. As a result of trips to new constructions in Kyrgyzstan, the series of linocuts "Construction of the Dam" (1963) emerged.
