Marat Iliyasov from the village of Ala-Bash, located in the upper valley of the Ton district, shares his story of labor migration. In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, he talks about how he spent 10 years away from his hometown.

“I was born and raised in Ala-Bash, but due to a lack of work in my native village, I was forced to go abroad. I worked for a whole decade in Russia, doing various jobs. The life of a migrant turned out to be difficult: there were days when we lacked food and money,” he recalls.

Upon returning home, he decided to invest his modest savings in livestock farming. “Isn’t there a way to earn a living on my own land?” he thought when he built a barn next to his house, bought livestock, and started fattening them. Today, he says, things are going much better, and the main thing is that he is back with his family. Starting with a small business, Marat realized that entrepreneurship is possible even in rural areas.

Currently, he keeps about 50 head of cattle, takes care of their feeding and fattening, and then sells them at the market, replenishing his herd. The difficulties he faced as a migrant became a motivation for him to start this business. “We learned how to properly fatten and sell cattle, and now the income has become quite good. In the future, we plan to create a large facility for fattening cattle and open new jobs,” Marat shares his plans.

“Our village is located in the upper valley of the Ton district, and most local residents are engaged in livestock farming,” he adds.
