Ulugbek Yereshayev, an expert in public administration, commented in an interview with IA "Kabar" on the decision to transfer control over driver training to the state. According to him, such reforms were extremely necessary due to the existing corruption that negatively affected the quality of education. As a result, graduates did not acquire the necessary skills, which contributed to the increase in the number of road traffic accidents and fatalities on the roads of Kyrgyzstan.
“The driver's responsibility for the lives of other road users and those around them cannot be underestimated. When licenses could be obtained without the necessary knowledge and skills, the situation became critical. The high level of accidents is a direct consequence of corrupt schemes,” he noted.
In Yereshayev's opinion, transferring driving schools under state control is a long-overdue measure. The training of cadets should be thorough and lengthy so that they realize that a car can pose a serious danger if not managed properly or if traffic rules are not known.
Examinations for obtaining a driver's license should also be under strict control. Corruption in this area must be eradicated, and reforming the driver training system will yield more positive results. Road safety is directly related to discipline and order, which, in turn, saves human lives,” the expert concluded.
