«I will never allow a division between north and south» — Sadyr Japarov

The President of Kyrgyzstan commented on the resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev

Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, elaborated on the public resonance caused by Kamchybek Tashiev's departure from the position of head of the State Committee for National Security. He dispelled concerns about a possible split in society and spoke about measures aimed at strengthening unity in the country.

The President immediately noted that he is categorically against dividing people by regional criteria. “I will not allow the country to be divided into north and south. Politicians often use such divisions for their own interests, manipulating ordinary people,” he stated.

According to him, this practice has been observed since the moment of gaining independence. “When I entered politics in 2005, I saw this myself. Half of the government was from the north, the other half from the south, and this caused me great concern. I vowed that if I ever became president, I would try to eradicate this problem,” he added.

Since 2021, he said, the situation has begun to change thanks to systematic personnel rotation. “We conducted a complete rotation of district akims, judges, and heads of the prosecutor's office, GKNB, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There is currently not a single akim from the south in the south — they are all from the north, and vice versa. The results are obvious: the division has decreased,” he explained.

The President also mentioned that this practice will be implemented at the level of the village council (ayil okmotu). “When a person becomes the head of an ayil okmotu in their village, often all the benefits go to their relatives. We will gradually eliminate this practice, but it will take time,” he added.

Education as a means of unification

Sadyr Japarov also spoke about the launch of "Akyllman" schools, where children from different regions study together. “We opened the ‘Akyllman’ school 2–3 years ago, gathering the most talented children from the north and south for education in Cholpon-Ata. Similar schools are being built in all regions, and in the coming years, we plan to create 7–8 such educational institutions,” he reported.

According to him, graduates of these schools will have the opportunity to work in government structures. “I signed a law that has already come into effect. The state invests in these children, and in 5–6 years they will become a personnel reserve that does not divide the country,” the president noted.

Additionally, starting in 2026, a rotation of students studying on a budget basis is planned. “5,000 students from the south will study in the north, and 5,000 from the north will study in the south. We are building dormitories so that people can study together and exchange cultures. This will help eliminate division in 20–30 years,” he added.

Address to citizens

The president urged citizens not to succumb to provocations: “Whether the president is from the north or the south is not important. The main thing is that he works honestly. As Deng Xiaoping said: it doesn’t matter if it’s a black cat or a white cat — the main thing is that it catches mice,” he emphasized.

On the role of politicians and the situation in the Jogorku Kenesh

Commenting on rumors of a split among deputies, the president noted: “Divisions are created by politicians using the people as a tool. Politicians come to power, but ordinary people do not benefit from this. It is always ordinary citizens who are killed and injured. Have you ever seen a politician's relative die in the last 30 years?”

On friendship with Kamchybek Tashiev

Sadyr Japarov confirmed that his friendly relations with Tashiev remain intact. “We remain friends, but he will not return to public service. Let him rest and recover his health. He may be upset now, but over time he will understand that I acted correctly,” he said.

On rumors about layoffs

The president noted that he did not initiate mass layoffs. “I have not fired anyone yet. We do not keep those who leave voluntarily. All ministries will be checked, and if someone is guilty of corruption, they will be punished,” he added.

He also warned officials: “Do not hire relatives, friends, and fellow countrymen. They are not afraid to steal,” he noted.

On possible attempts at destabilization

In response to rumors about “75 politicians” and possible destabilization scenarios, the president stated: “There will be no coups. The laws do not allow this, and the situation does not require it. I work 20 hours a day and control all processes,” he emphasized.

On crime and corruption

The president emphasized that there is no more organized crime in the country. “All the ‘watchers’ are either in prison or have left. Kyrgyzstan has become different,” he said, adding that it is impossible to completely eliminate corruption. “Even in Singapore, there remains 15–16 percent. We are reducing it, and we managed to eliminate crime quickly,” he noted.

On the last meeting with Tashiev

Sadyr Japarov reported that he recently met with Kamchybek Tashiev. “I told him: rest and take care of your health. He claims that he does not communicate with anyone, which means someone acted behind his back. We will restore order, and we have enough strength for this,” the president concluded.
