According to President Sadyr Japarov, the recent resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev will not significantly impact efforts to combat organized crime.

The president noted that, to date, there is no organized crime in the country on the scale that existed previously. However, he emphasized that crimes still occur, and it is impossible to completely eradicate them, as they exist everywhere.

“The organized crime groups that previously operated in the country are no longer active. The people who used to collect 'marks' even from women in markets are now either serving their sentences or hiding outside the country. Those who try to return and restore their criminal habits are deeply mistaken,” he added.

Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan has changed since 2020, and now the authorities do not make deals with criminals. “Now this is a different Kyrgyzstan, where there will be no organized crime,” the president said.

Continuing, he added that the fight against corruption is a continuous process.

“It will never end. There is not a single country in the world that has been able to completely rid itself of corruption. Even in Singapore, which is considered one of the cleanest places from corruption, the level of corruption is 15–16%,” he emphasized.

Nevertheless, according to him, dealing with organized crime has not been that difficult.

“We brought order in one day. But, unfortunately, over the past five years, completely eradicating corruption has proven to be a challenging task. If everything goes well, we will try to reduce its level in the future. We have enough strength and intelligence for this. I have instructed law enforcement agencies: 'In your fight against crime and corruption, you have a complete carte blanche, work calmly, professionally, and without 'mask shows' and PR,'” the president concluded.
