Political scientist Bakyt Baketaev addressed 75 representatives of the public in Kyrgyzstan, asking them to publicly explain their position regarding the initiative for early elections. He noted that maintaining political stability and the resilience of the state is extremely important at this stage.
With respect for the experience and merits of the signatories, Baketaev emphasized that hasty decisions regarding state stability could prove too risky for Kyrgyzstan.
Considering that reforms in the country are beginning to bear fruit and international organizations are increasingly mentioning Kyrgyzstan as the "new Asian tiger," the initiative for early elections seems inappropriate.
Some signatories later admitted that their decision was made under the influence of emotions and was not based on a thorough analysis of legal norms.
The public expects from them not just justifications, but an honest and dignified explanation of their position. Among the signatories are respected elders, academics, and other figures who have dedicated their lives to serving the homeland, which creates high expectations from the people.
If genuine concern for the country was the main motive for the initiative, the question arises as to why it was not supported by experienced lawyers and generals like Felix Kulov, who also publicly expressed his disagreement? This question is actively discussed in society.
At the current moment, it is especially important to maintain calm and continuity in governance. Investigative bodies will address the details of the situation, while state institutions will continue their work. The president will be able to clarify everything.
In the context of an unstable geopolitical situation, any careless action could lead to destabilization. Kyrgyzstan needs constructive efforts, consistency, and resilience, not conflicts.
Elders have always been the moral support of the people. Society now expects a new, thoughtful, and balanced address that would support stability and the fundamental principles of the constitutional order.
Wisdom has always been the foundation of state development.
Why are they silent? Do they agree with this? The people are waiting for their response, or do they intend to remain on the sidelines until the end?" Baketaev questions.
It is worth recalling that earlier, 75 well-known public figures and former politicians appealed to the president with a call for early elections. Explanatory conversations were held with them in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and some of them were detained.
