In Tajikistan, Dushanbe Airport and the Traffic Police have become leaders in bribes and embezzlement

A press conference was held in Dushanbe, where the results of the work of the Agency for State Financial Control and the Fight Against Corruption of Tajikistan for 2025 were announced. During the event, a list of state institutions with the highest level of financial crimes was published, with the international airport of Dushanbe taking the lead. The total amount of damage identified in this institution amounted to an impressive 319.3 million somoni, as reported by "Asia-Plus".

In second place for the level of corruption was the State Traffic Police (GAI) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Deputy Head of the Agency, Firuz Kamolzoda, reported that a large-scale scheme had been uncovered in this department: more than 2,700 vehicles were registered without the necessary customs clearance. In one of the GAI departments, the damage exceeded 240 million somoni. To date, 253 million somoni have been returned to the budget, which were recovered from the guilty parties and illegal importers.

Additionally, among the top five most corrupt institutions were the Road Reconstruction Center, the capital's "Vodokanal," and the thermal energy sector. The head of the anti-corruption agency, Sulaymon Sultonzada, noted that systemic corruption remains one of the most serious problems for the country.

International experts confirm alarming trends: according to the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2025, Tajikistan ranks 166th out of 182. Despite regular arrests of civil servants, the main hotspots of corruption remain the law enforcement agencies, the medical sector, and land resources.
