An electronic auction took place in Kazakhstan, where luxury items previously seized as part of the case against former National Security Committee head Karim Massimov were sold. According to Tengrinews.kz, the sale of the lots was handled by the Asset Recovery Management Company (ARMC).
Among the lots presented, the most attention was drawn to a samurai sword encased in a scabbard. Its starting price was several hundred thousand tenge, but as a result of the auction, the final price reached 3,413,825 tenge, which is more than seven times the starting price. Six buyers competed for this unique steel blade with an exquisite handle.
The next lot was a leather belt in a national style, adorned with silver forging. The starting price of this item was set at 183,750 tenge, but thanks to the active bidding of four participants, its final price rose to 524,261 tenge.
Both items were seized from the mansion belonging to the former head of the National Security Committee and were included in the case materials. The proceeds from the sale will be directed to the asset management fund for assets returned to the state.
