Iceland to Consider Kyrgyzstan's Invitation to Participate in the WIC This Year

At the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva on February 23, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the possibilities for deepening bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Iceland were discussed, with an emphasis on cooperation in areas such as trade, finance, climate initiatives, green energy, education, and investments.

Kulubaev also invited Iceland to participate in the World Nomad Games in 2026 and the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25" in 2027. Minister Gylfadóttir highly appreciated these initiatives and confirmed her willingness to explore opportunities for joint cooperation.

As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to continue open dialogue and strengthen bilateral ties, as well as agreed on issues of political consultations and expanding the legal framework for cooperation.
