Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives Interested in Opening Direct Air Communication

On February 23, 2026, in Geneva, during participation in high-level events of the UN Human Rights Council and the Disarmament Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Khalil. This meeting was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

During the negotiations, aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, emphasizing the need to strengthen political dialogue, as well as economic and cultural ties. The parties expressed mutual interest in establishing direct air communication between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to multilateral cooperation. Both ministers confirmed their commitment to expanding interaction and continuing to develop friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives.

At the end of the meeting, Kulubaev invited his Maldivian counterpart to participate in the World Nomad Games, which will take place in 2026, as well as in the Second Global Mountain Summit in October 2027.
