At a parliamentary meeting, member of the Jogorku Kenesh Gulya Kozhokulova voiced the idea of exempting bus drivers from the obligation to accept cash payments. She emphasized that drivers should focus on operating the vehicle and ensuring passenger safety.
Kozhokulova proposed to isolate the driver's workplace with a glass partition to minimize distractions from driving. According to her, the need to accept cash forces buses to operate on the principle of route taxis, which negatively affects safety and adherence to the schedule.
The deputy also noted that this issue has been discussed multiple times by local councils but has not yet been resolved.
