It should be reminded that in August 2025, Donald Trump handed Vladimir Putin a letter from Melania at a summit held in Alaska. The letter addressed the fate of Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia during the conflict. Later, the text of the letter was published by other news agencies; however, Ukraine was not mentioned in it. "Mr. Putin, only you have the power to return to them [the children] their joyful childhood. By protecting the innocence of these children, you will do good not only for Russia but for all humanity," the letter stated. In October, Melania Trump reported that her representative "is directly engaging with President Putin's team" to ensure the safe reunification of Ukrainian children with their families. She also noted that after these negotiations, eight children were able to return to their loved ones.
