41-year-old Ernis Zheentaev, convicted under the article on "Calls for Mass Riots," will be able to attend his mother's funeral. This decision was confirmed by the State Penitentiary Service of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agency's information, the request from Zheentaev's relatives was forwarded to the country's presidential administration, which became the basis for the permission.

The State Penitentiary Service noted that "the escorts will accompany him to the funeral in the near future."

Recall that in February 2026, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced Zheentaev to six years in prison under Article 278 Part 3 "Calls for Mass Riots" and Article 332 Part 1 "Manufacturing, Distribution, Transportation, or Mailing of Extremist Materials" of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.

Ernis Zheentaev was detained in November 2025. He worked as a designer for several publications and was found guilty after the criminal case was initiated. His family and defense plan to appeal the court's decision in higher instances. Lawyer Nurbek Sydykov also reported that a copy of the verdict has not yet been handed over to the defense.
