The Housing Committee approved the bill regarding the change of status of border crossing points with Kazakhstan in the second reading.
The speaker at the meeting was Abdikarim Alimbaev, the chairman of the State Border Service.
In his speech, Alimbaev emphasized that the draft law proposes changes to the status of the border crossing points "Tömönkü-Chüy-road" ("Kamyshevka-road") and "Kichi-Kapka-road," transitioning them from a bilateral to a multilateral (international) regime. It is also proposed to change the operating mode of the "Tömönkü-Chüy-road" crossing point from daytime operation to round-the-clock operation.
"These changes in the status of the border crossing points are driven by the need to create more favorable conditions for the development of tourism, increasing freight and passenger flows, and improving infrastructure," added Abdikarim Alimbaev.
