At a press conference held on March 8 in Beijing during the session of the National People's Congress, Wang Yi, China's Foreign Minister and a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, officially announced the country's distancing from the idea of creating a "big duo" that would imply joint management of global processes with the USA.
The minister emphasized that world history should be created with the participation of all 190 countries, rather than being limited to just a few great powers.
"China does not intend to follow the path of hegemony chosen by other countries and refuses to recognize the logic of 'joint management by great powers.' Regardless of changes in the international situation and its level of development, China will never strive for hegemony or expansion," Wang Yi noted.
As an alternative, he proposed models of a multipolar world where all countries are equal and adhere to the UN Charter, urging great powers to show respect for international law and serve as an example for others.
