Surabaldiyeva and Tumonbaev commented on Kokulov's performance from the podium
“If he has personal issues, he should address the public through Facebook. If he were talking about a bill, that would be a different matter. His disputes with journalists and traffic police are his personal affairs. He was elected from the Issyk-Kul district and should raise issues about schools, water supply, and roads in Jeti-Oguz, Tone, and Karakol. We are not obliged to listen to his quarrels. This podium is intended for discussing serious issues, not personal conflicts. This is not the first time he has raised these topics,” Tumonbaev stated.
Elvira Surabaldiyeva also recalled that in the previous convocation, she was not given the floor when she raised a personal issue.
“I understand that you may have your reasons; you were once in the same faction. But that is not a reason to grant the floor again. Every deputy has their own stories of pressure and persecution, but such topics should be discussed in other formats, such as podcasts or the media. This podium is intended for discussing citizens' problems. I have also been criticized for recent events, but I cannot speak about my grievances here, as it is inappropriate,” she emphasized and called on Speaker Marlen Mamataliyev to be fair to all deputies.
In response, Mamataliyev stated that at the morning meeting with the leaders of the deputy groups, it was decided to raise only important issues for the country.
“From now on, only leaders and their deputies will request the floor at the podium, and topics for discussion will be agreed upon in advance. As for Erulan, he does not belong to any group and has the right to request 10 minutes for a speech. He made the request, and we supported him,” the speaker noted.
Kokulov, for his part, asked not to distort his words. “Deputies not only pass laws but also monitor their implementation. I am not talking about myself, but about how laws are violated, and I call for their observance. I know very well where I came from and what happened during the elections, and I know how each of you got here and what cars were raffled among the campaigners,” he added.
