The correspondent of Turmush gathered information about Gennady Bazarov, the renowned director.
Gennady Bazarov was born in the village of Kum-Döbö, located in the Kochkor district of Naryn region.
His father, Sadyr Bazarov, was a party official. In 1942, while working in the At-Bashinsky district, his son was born.
That same year, his Russian friend lost a son named Gennady, a pilot, at the front. To preserve the memory of the fallen, Sadyr decided to change the name of his newborn son to Gennady.
At the age of 23, while studying at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S.A. Gerasimov in Moscow, Gennady Bazarov shot his first works. One of them caught the attention of writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, who noticed the young director's talent and offered him to adapt his novella "Samanchynyn joluu" ("Mother's Field").
On May 14, 2022, in the Kochkor district, Gennady's homeland, his 80th birthday was celebrated.
The director is survived by a son and two daughters.

At birth, Gennady Bazarov was given the Kyrgyz name — Kengesbek.
Only his younger brother, Sultan Bazarov, continued to call him by this name.
